A Guide to Snowmobiling in Durango
In Durango, tucked in the back of the rail yard, you’ll discover the 12,000-square-foot Roundhouse Museum. The Museum was created in 1998 utilizing 8 stalls of the 15-stall roundhouse. Many families and old railroad workers have donated or provided artifacts that tell the history of the city of Durango and railroading. In addition to two full size locomotives, a caboose and an immigrant sleeper car, the museum also features Durango's first motorized fire engine, a model representing the D&RGW from the 1950's and a 1913 Curtiss Headless Pusher Model "D" Aircraft, in addition to many other exhibits. The museum has been free to the public since 2008.
