Planning on visiting Durango, Colorado sometime soon? Whether you’re coming for business or pleasure, it’s an excellent location to get lost in and find a bit of rest and relaxation while you’re around.

Rejuvenate in hot springs and spend some time outdoors surrounded by stunning nature. Or catch an art festival, beer tasting, or historic tour. Something for everyone!

Amongst the top attractions, though, are our premier golf experiences. Here are the best local golf courses you should visit in Durango:

Hillcrest Golf Club

From the Hillcrest Golf Club's vantage point on a mesa, you’ll overlook the town of Durango and have a splendid view of the La Plata Mountains and Animas River Valley.

Once you’ve gotten over the stunning view, the golf is quite great too. The 18-hole course is excellent for newbies as well as accomplished golfers, with straight, pristine fairways and few hazards in comparison to others.

You’ll also find a full-size driving range, a short-game practice area, and a new indoor golf simulator. You can visit this club for a round even if the weather isn’t ideal.

Enjoy a post-round meal at the Hillcrest Deli & Grill. Order from the course so it’s ready and waiting when you walk in!

Prices vary by course (9 or 18-hole), season, day of the week, and time of day. A weekend 18-hole round in summer 2021 will set you back $53, which is the most pricey of your choices.

The Glacier Club

The Glacier Club is nestled in the midst of the Animas Valley, where you’ll be surrounded by pristine, protected wilderness. The ravine in which it’s situated was carved out of the mountain by a glacier many centuries ago, giving it its name.

Choose from the Mountain or the Valley golf course, each of which is a full 18 holes and have their own clubhouse. The courses offer challenges to golfers of all levels, with multiple elevation changes, tricky doglegs, and trees.

If you’re into other sports like swimming, tennis, pickleball, fishing, or skiing, you can take part in those here too! It’s an excellent spot for sportsmen who enjoy a round of golf amongst other things.

This is a professional-quality private club. Members of the public aren’t able to walk in and play unless invited by a member.

Choose from two different membership plans, and members will also have access to a private fitness center.

Dalton Ranch Golf Club

The Dalton Ranch Golf Club is 250 acres of links-style golf set out in an 18-hole course. If old-school, challenging golf is what you enjoy, then we highly recommend a visit.

While you’re playing, you’ll be able to marvel at views of the magnificent Rocky Mountains and the spectacular Animas Valley.

Stop by the 26,000 square foot clubhouse after your round and grab a bite at the Alce’ Italian-American restaurant

Rates vary depending on the time of year. Sundays to Thursdays also offer a “twilight” option, which is the most affordable option.

The club also details its attire policy on the website, so make sure you’re wearing appropriate golf pants, shirts, shoes, and a golf hat.

Conclusion

The golfing experience is excellent on our top-class courses in Durango. You won’t be disappointed! In fact, it may be enough to bring you back again just for the golf, although there’s a ton of other fun stuff to do.

Next time, bring your friends and family along! Apart from golf, we’ve truly got something for everyone in our slice of heaven.
