Looking for a great way to spend your Summer trip in Durango?

Durango is the summer adventure hub! Nestled in the foothills of the San Juan Mountains, there are mountain and river activities to create your quintessential Colorado vacation.

Here's a four-day itinerary for an easy-adventurous trip for your Summer visit:

Day 1

Soar through the air at Soaring Tree Top Adventures. Accessible only by the Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad, your Soaring ticket will get you two adventures in one. Enjoy soaring from tree to tree on the #1 Trip Advisor zipline adventure. If you want to stay closer to town, try ziplining and skywalks at Full Blast Adventure Center.

Day 2

Durango is named for the river that runs through town. Enjoy a half-day raft, kayak, or float on the Animas River. Eat lunch on the riverside with a picnic from Bread or at the Animas River Grille and Lounge. For unmatched views, take in a round of golf or hit the driving range at Dalton Ranch or Hillcrest Golf Club.

Day 3

Durango is a biking capitol. Rent a mountain bike and ride from downtown Durango on the 30 miles of maintained trails in the Horse Gulch area; ride down the slopes at Purgatory Resort; graduate to the Colorado Trail to gain a higher elevation. For a cruiser ride, try the Animas River Trail. If road biking is your pleasure, challenge yourself on the Iron Horse Bicycle Classic route over two mountain passes to Silverton. Relax your weary muscles with a soak and swim at Durango Hot Springs and Spa. Enjoy a beer tasting and dinner at one of our four craft breweries.

Day 4

Learn to fly-fish on a guided trip, trail ride into the backcountry by horseback, ride The Plunge zipline or Alpine Slide at Purgatory Resort, or take a jeep tour to old mining ruins. Don’t forget to take home the perfect souvenir or gift from a downtown gallery or gift shop.
