Try the fastest growing sport in the world! Rent a Stand Up Paddle Board (SUP) and enjoy the water from a different perspective. Perfect for almost any age range or ability, just about anyone can hop on a paddle board and have a good time! One of the unique parts of paddle boarding is being able to look down on the river environment from a higher vantage point than you would in a kayak. You see a lot more fish and more of the underwater topography of the river itself. Its also a great full body work out that engages your core, upper body, hip flexors and lower body all at once! Try some SUP Yoga, or flatwater tricks! Or just sit there an float or lay down and sun bathe! Thats the nice thing about SUPs, there's something for everyone!
We have a large variety of boards (over 40 different models) available for rent, both inflatable and rigid boards, for a multitude of applications. Take it to the lake or flatwater stretch of the Animas, add an element of challenge to your fishing, or try SUP surfing at the Santa Rita Whitewater Park! Bring the kids, bring the dog, and have some fun!Â
There are multiple area reservoirs that are perfect for paddle boarding, including Vallecito, Lemon, Navajo, McPhee, Electra, Haviland, (and hopefully Nighthorse soon), all within an hour or less drive of 4CRS. The closest and easiest option is the flat section of the Animas above the 32nd St. Put-In. Cruise up the flatwater section as far as you care to (up to 14 river miles of flatwater), then just turn around and paddle back to your car! We have free maps available of local paddling destinations or ask one of our friendly staff members for recommendations.

Experience the joys of kayaking! From flatwater cruising to whitewater thrills, Durango has something for everyone! With the Town Run of the Animas River running straight thru the heart of downtown, we have one of the easiest access Class II-III stretches of whitewater in the state. Rent an inflatable kayak and have your own whitewater adventure right here in town and be back in time for lunch (or dinner). Take a river tour of Durango, with plenty of whitewater excitement along the way, maxing out with the Class III Smelter Rapid / Santa Rita Whitewater Park section. Most paddlers choose to launch from the 32nd St. put-in on the North end of Durango and float all the way down to our shop (5+ river miles), then take the Durango Trolley or utilize one of our free loaner shuttle bikes to shuttle back to your car. Longer floats are available past the shop (up to 7.5 river miles total), but will require use of 2 vehicles. We recommend a minimum age of 6 for all IK passengers and that all passengers have strong swimming skills. For experienced paddlers, we have hard-shell whitewater kayaks available for rent (must prove that you have a competant roll), with playboats, creek boats, river runners and crossovers from Jackson, Dagger & Pyranha.
All our rental kayaks are "self guided". If you would like to take a guided inflatable kayak trip or guided whitewater raft trip, please contact our sister company 4Corners Whitewater.
